Anne Lise Frøkedal

Anne Lise Frøkedal has revised my notion of the politicaly correct. If in one of a thousand band interviews you reach the girl who plays guitar, sings and writes the lyrics for a group of which all the other members are boys, it still does not make her the female lead singer of indie rock. Even if she is just that. A lead singer singing her own lyrics front stage. She doesn’t want to be photographed that way. In a rock pose. “I’ve played the guitar since I was twelve. It’s no big deal,” she says. Even so it was a reflex to portray her that way for most of the norwegian media. It’s somehow relevant. But try turning the politically correct onto itself and say with surprise and awe in your voice: “Wow! You play the guitar! Well done!” It sounds ridiculous. If you were talking to a man, you wouldn’t be talking. It would’ve been a given. It’s the double edged sword of political correctness. Those who live with other peoples stereotypes will be required to show the rest of us again and again, what we know in theory but forget in real life.

( Nonetheless! Anne Lise wanted the guitar in the picture due to its good looks)
